Blaise and Zélie in August

The bike rides around the block suddenly became a lot faster come August. We clocked Blaise at 8 minutes a trip. They used to take 45 minutes with all of the investing that needed to be done of every nook and cranny. We had to make a new rule of stopping at the light poles and stop signs (which there is one or the other on three of the four corners around the block), so that we wouldn't have to yell, "Wait up!" as he rounded the corners at 90 miles an hour. The neighbor kid helped us enforce this rule. Levi, the 5-year-old two houses down, went on bike rides with us several times and was really great about searching out and finding the light poles and stop signs. Blaise wanted to be like him, so he stopped when Levi did...for the most part. :)
Almost nightly, Aaron took the kids for a ride around the block while I finished supper...and enjoyed the peace and quiet. :) Thank you, husband!

I told Blaise that back in my day whenever we took a picture, my friends and I always held up our "Number 1" fingers because Nebraska was number one.
Oh, those were the days, so long, long ago.
