My memories of our October Uncle John visit are vague. The pictures help me remember a few stories, such as Zélie joining in the firefighting fun. She wanted so badly to try on the fire helmet. The only trouble was it was so heavy that she couldn't keep her head up without help. See John's hand in the picture? That's what an uncle is for: extra support.
We went to the Young Adults BBQ with the bishop. Yeah, that's right, the bishop! How cool is that? We've been to this event twice, and I'm already looking forward to next year. I admire Bishop Slattery very much. He is so wise, so pensive, and has such fun stories to share about growing up Catholic in Chicago. John went with us to the BBQ, and it was great to have extra hands on deck, particularly when little sister thought she could jump off of the edge of the patio like brother.
John wishing that he was actually asleep.
Blaise was upset that both of his firefighting shirts were dirty.
John offered to let him wear one of his...
Blaise cracked up so much that he forgot he was even mad.
Thanks, Uncle John, from both of us. :)
