Aaron took Blaise over to the Richard L. Jones airport by our house to a morning of "Just Plane Fun." It was a carnival style event that supported...umm...a good cause. The MAIN cause it supported was Mom's sanity, as I spent the morning tidying up the house while the guys were out and Zélie slept.
We discovered that Blaise would eat anything if he got to put his own condiments on it. In our fridge we have a collection of ketchup, mustard, jelly, parmesan cheese, and red pepper flake packets. Well, I should say we had them in our fridge because Blaise used them all, with the exception of the red pepper flakes. The most interesting dishes he dressed up were pancakes with ketchup and spaghetti with jelly. He ate them, so I can't complain.
I discovered this month that my Blaise monster actually does stop moving every once in
a while. I left Blaise in the living room with the TV on to put Zélie down for her afternoon nap
one day. When I came out a half hour later, I found this:
a while. I left Blaise in the living room with the TV on to put Zélie down for her afternoon nap
one day. When I came out a half hour later, I found this:
I was shocked. Completely and totally taken aback. Really?? He fell asleep watching TV?
I had to take pictures to remind myself that he IS human.
Some more Blaise-isms from this months and possibly a few from previous months because, like I mentioned, back blogging makes it hard to remember when stuff actually happened.
He really enjoyed following the books that we checked out from the library:
We read these books before every naptime and bedtime, and I think we checked them out back-to-back. I don't know how he didn't get tired of the same three books for four weeks.
I loved it when he would "read" the stories to us, especially the book Why by Richard Torrey. Both Aaron and I loved hearing his little voice recite his version of the second to last page, "Why do I haffa go to feep when I no tired?" (Why do I have to go to sleep when I'm not tired?) That is Blaise's motto, after all.
I can't remember which month it happened, but he started to ride a bike with training wheels. I think that threw him over the no-longer-a-toddler line in my eyes. He loves stopping to talk to the neighbors on our daily walks, especially Rick who lives a few houses down and Johnny who lives across the street from Rick. He shoots the breeze with these two ol' guys like he's known them for years and years.
Blaise was obsessed with Barney during the summer months. In one particular episode, Barney's friends go to Africa where they see a group of children perform a traditional dance accompanied by drums. Blaise reenacted this performance for a while there almost daily with his own set of drums - basically every container we owned turned upside down and put in a line. He'd go down the line banging on all of them and at the end proclaim, "JUMBO!" just like the children on Barney. It was loud, but the whole setting up and performance kept him entertained for a l-o-n-g time, so the noise was well worth it...except if Zélie was sleeping!
