We celebrated St. Patrick's Day with a day of service with the Young Adults group at our parish. We did yard work for two nuns who are originally from Ireland. How appropriate. How cool!
Family service projects are always interesting. I feel like I spend 25% of my time working and 75% of my time chasing children. :) But I know that it's worth it both for them and me.
Blaise started out by helping Aaron tear down some weeds around a tree out front. Zélie started out by napping in the car for about 30 minutes.
The sisters had a mini grotto in their yard, which was my favorite area that we cleaned up. It was just very peaceful to work in. We didn't get a before picture, but below is the after:
Just a few days earlier, I was telling Aaron how I have never seen a worm here. Even after it rains, there isn't a single worm on the sidewalk - very different than from home. Someone was digging in the garden of the grotto and found...you guessed it...a worm! Blaise picked it up without hesitation and proudly displayed it for everyone.
When we were finished, we gave the sisters a St. Patrick's Day gift basket complete with Bailey's. I love being Catholic. :)
