A February Snow Day

Oh, snow. How I miss thee.

February gave us our first (and only) snow day of the winter season. Last year, it was snowing one morning and I thought to myself, "We'll bundle up and go out after nap." After nap all the snow was gone! I wasn't going to make that rookie mistake again this year, so we were out the door first thing in the morning.
It was Zélie's first snow in Oklahoma. She "saw" snow for the first time in October in Nebraska.

I knew the snow wouldn't stick around for more than a day, so right away we built a snowman. Correction. I built a snowman. Blaise and Zélie watched.
It was the best...and only...snowman on the block.
Around Christmas, we had read a book about building a snowman, so I tried to duplicate it as best as I could. Meaning, the carrot for a nose, coal for eyes, and sticks for arms. Blaise's eyes lit up as he watched the snowman "come to life."
Zélie was quite the little trooper. Please note her mismatched mittens which are actually socks.
And, then, of course, there was the tricycle riding. I was impressed that he did it all bundled up...and without mittens?! I don't remember that, but it doesn't surprise me. The kid is a machine.
