We had a pretty low-key 4th of July. My mom made a delicious roast beef dinner complete with mashed potatoes and creamed cucumbers. There's just nothing like Mom's cookin'! Aaron and Blaise went swimming at a friend's pool and on their way home picked up some toddler friendly fireworks - as toddler friendly as fireworks get...
Grandma Marilyn and Blaise surveying the destruction.
Note Grandma's hands on her hips. Blaise must have been rubbing off on her.
Aunt Amy and Zélie hanging out. Zélie did remarkably well. I think the suffocating Oklahoma heat reminded her of the womb. Our neighbors, Max and Mary, came outside when they noticed we were out. "Baby?!" they asked, knowing that our due date was the 4th. We got to show Zélie off.
Blaise was intimidated by the poppers at first, but after he got the hang of them, he couldn't stop. He kept signing/saying "More, more!" after every one.
In Tulsa county, you have to have a permit to light off the big fireworks. Our neighbors had said permit, so we watched their fireworks show. Blaise wasn't really paying attention when they started lighting them off, so after the BANG of the first artillery shell he quickly turned around and said, "Uh, oh!" Too cute.
