October: Halloween

Aaron and I have decided that we pretty much stink at celebrating holidays. We get the major ones - Christmas, Thanksgiving, and Easter - it's the ones in between that trip us up. We WANT to celebrate them, particularly solemnities and feast days in the Church. We're just really bad at coming up with ideas, buying supplies, FOLLOWING THROUGH, and then all the clean-up and storage that follows.

So it was no surprise on Halloween eve at 5:30 as the sun is setting that we looked at each other and said, "We still don't know what Blaise is going to be." We had a clown hat and some clown-ish pajamas that would've done for the rest of the costume. We had a white beret to dress him like a french man, but no clothes to match (maybe a white diaper would've done?). It came down to a fishing vest that I had found at a garage sale a couple weeks earlier. We put that on him along with the best fishing gear we could find.

For being thrown together 5 minutes before, his costume turned out pretty well:

He hated wearing the hat, though.

In this picture, I put the hat on him and quickly jumped out of the frame while Aaron shot the picture.

"Get this thing off of me."

He had a fun time trick-or-treating, mainly because he got to walk around outside. He loaded up on a TON of M&Ms. Yes, we did let him eat some. :)

  1. Love it! That's a great costume idea especially coming up with it the night before! Miss you!
