December: Helpful Guy

Blaise's superhero name is Helpful Guy. He even has his own theme song. He really is a helpful little boy. He loves helping us with everything: scrubbing the floor, pushing the laundry basket down the hall, vacuuming, sweeping, picking up toys, the list goes on and on.

I'm very thankful for my friends Lynn and Erin who introduced me to the Montessori philosophy. Before reading about Montesorri, I didn't know that kids Blaise's age could do "big people" stuff. But they can! And, oh, how they want to! He just needs someone to show him what to do.

It's not easy letting him help. I constantly struggle with wanting to do things as quickly and efficiently as possible (it's the engineer in me). Quick and efficient are not words to describe toddlerhood. I am challenged to let go of my schedule and enter into Blaise's world, seeing everything new for the first time.

Helping me make muffins. He's great at cleaning the beaters off. :)

Helping Aaron sort silverware.
